Decarbonization of Mold Flux: Contributing to Carbon Footprint Reduction
The reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, as well as the use of fossil fuels, resulting from human activity in the world have become fundamental for the sustainability of life. With great advances in recent years, the world steel industry has been increasingly seeking technologies to reduce the carbon footprint. As part of the steelmaking chain, the production of fluxing powders must seek its share of contribution. In this work, the main mold flux decarbonization initiatives will be presented from production to application in steel casting. Reduction of carbon emissions and consumption of fossil fuels are some of the results obtained.
