A Study on the Patented MIDREX Reformer and Its Adaptability to the H2 Economy
Decarbonization is key to the sustainability of the steel industry and the use of green hydrogen is the ideal solution for reducing CO2 emission. MIDREX Flex™ plant is allows steelmakers to adapt to the hydrogen economy at their pace. A key feature of the MIDREX Flex plant is the adaptability of the patented MIDREX Reformer to varying gas composition. In 2023, MIDREX constructed a full-scale single-tube reformer in Pineville, N.C., USA, to conduct a comprehensive study to examine the effects of H2, carbon activity, temperature and space velocity on carbon deposition reactions in the reformer.
