Decarbonization in the Steel Industry

Moving to electric from fossil fuels poses many challenges in the metals industry. Many parts of the process are fossil-fuel-dependent, so the whole system must be considered. This paper intends to collaborate with a customer in the industry to look at the challenges steel applications present to reaching sustainability goals and identify what steps can be taken to move toward a decarbonization initiative, including: choosing components for the system, evaluating current range to achieve efficiency, and incentives and other actions needed.
