Enhancing Yield and Efficiency: Optimized Production Scheduling Minimizes Transition Losses
Compact Strip Production with EAFs have revolutionized the steel industry by melting scrap steel and transforming it into an array of products. The production of diverse steel grades leads to grade transitions and associated losses. Navigating this complex environment, production scheduling becomes challenging. The multi-faceted demands of a diverse product portfolio, frequent grade transitions, and a myriad of constraints complicate this task. This paper introduces an automatic scheduling system that works in synergy with the existing MES. Utilizing mixed integer solvers, it optimizes production schedules, adapting to both daily demands and more flexible timeframes, while ensuring production constraints are addressed.
