A Holistic Approach to Decarbonization of the Radiant Tube Section of Galvanizing and Continuous Annealing Furnaces
The steel industry as a whole is committed to reducing the carbon footprint of its operations. To this end, each heating section will ultimately require a review and action to reduce or eliminate carbon in the process to a net-zero state. This paper and presentation will focus on the areas of process efficiencies, combustion efficiencies and fuel switching, addressing how each impact the carbon footprint. Likewise, the importance of addressing each of these areas together will be emphasized. Finally, a discussion on how readily available burner, heat recovery and radiant tube configurations address these needs will be provided.
