Reheat Furnace Retrofit NOx and Efficiency Improvement Possibilities
Steel reheat furnaces require a significant amount of energy in their process. Improving furnace efficiency satisfies decarbonization goals while also lowering operating expenses. Low-NOx regenerative systems have been applied to steel reheat furnaces for many years to improve heating quality, productivity and thermal efficiency. The application of regenerative technology coupled with its low-NOx technology makes a good fit for both efficiency and decarbonization goals. Also, certain furnace design and maintenance aspects and their positive impacts on efficiency will be discussed. Several case studies will be referenced to highlight the improvements to efficiency that combustion and furnace technology provide.
