Producing Value Out of Exhaust Gas Energy Content, Improving Furnace’s Energy Efficiency
In a sustainable scenario, heat recovery and plant energy efficiency play an important role in contributing to lower OpEx, for environmentally and economically sustainable steel works. A relevant share of the total energy usage is wasted in furnaces' exhaust gases, contributing to lower the process efficiency. The innovation herein described aims to further recover the waste gas energy keeping the combustion efficiency that is given by the air pre-heating, already broadly diffused. Different from ORC, this plant consists mainly of a compressor and a turbine that generate mechanical energy, minimizing the auxiliaries’ energy demand, for example the combustion air fan.
