Comparison of the Level of Inclusion in High-Carbon Steel Wire Rod Produced From Scrap-Based and Ore-Based Billets
High-carbon steel wire rod is important materials for use in the production of tire cords, pre-stressing concrete steel and ropes. The inclusion composition and level of high-carbon steel is affected to performance of the deep drawing process. The inclusion level of high-carbon steel wire rods is one of the key quality issues for tire cord products. In this study, high-carbon steel wire rods produced from scrap-based and ore-based steel billets are chosen for comparison of inclusion level. During this study, inclusion level is observed with SEM-EDS, and CaO, MgO, Al2O3, MnO and SiO2 are evaluated.
