NO SHOW: Number Modeling on the Collision of Inclusions in the Molten Steel of a Continuous Casting Bloom Strand
In the current study, multi-size inclusions collision in a 380 mm * 280 mm bloom strand was calculated using an Eulerian-Eulerian model. Steel solidification affected the turbulent dissipation rate so that the collision probability and the removal of inclusions were significantly influenced. Ignoring steel solidification, 1 μm inclusions concentration decreased and >10μm inclusions concentration increased from the top to bottom of the mold while 5μm inclusions gathered in the middle. Considering steel solidification, inclusions >50μm exhibited a low concentration in the upper mold and high concentration in the lower mold while <50μm inclusions had the highest concentration in the upper mold.
