Characteristics of Large-Size Ds-Type Inclusions in Ultrahigh Clean Bearing Steel
This study centers on the formation of large-size Ds-type inclusions in ultraclean bearing steel. The origin and removal behavior of Ds-type inclusions during the smelting process was investigated by analyzing the defective products and the specimens encompassing the whole smelting process. The results reveal that Ds-type inclusions primarily belong to the CaO-Al2O3 category, exhibiting a low SiO2 content ranging from 1 mass%-10 mass%. This characteristic considerably diminishes the contact angle with the molten steel and lowers the melting point compared to CaO-Al2O3 inclusions. Correspondingly, the implementation of optimization measures has substantially reduced the frequency of Ds-type inclusions.
