Quality Control Enhancement on Rolling Mill Through Smart Robotics

Steel production requires continuous monitoring of the quality of the material throughout the production process. The technologies now available enable a concrete application of the Industry 4.0 concept. The systems consists of robotic arms integrated in the lamination process, such as an autonomous vehicle that moves between the rolling cages and measures the profile of the laminated material detecting shape defects measuring diameter; and a robotic system to automate material sample cutting and removal from rods/long products on the cooling bed, and one for wire rod coils ends trimming and sample collection.
