Application of Asymmetric Hydraulic AGC to Shifting Reverse Mill
Hydraulic automatic gauge control or automatic roll gap control (AGC) has recently been applied to most new plate mills, but very few long product rolling mills have applied it, as it is rather difficult for the reverse mill with multiple passes using a multi-caliber roll due to the asymmetric rolling. This is because the rolled material does not pass through the center of the roll and the rolling passline changes with each pass. This paper will introduce the newly developed hydraulic AGC system that incorporates the advanced BISRA-AGC concept to a shifting reverse mill with multi-caliber asymmetric rolling.
