Automatic Gap Control Function Applied to a Long Products Rolling Mill for Sections

The automatic gap control (AGC) function is typical of flat products rolling mills. In this paper, POMINI Long Rolling Mills presents an AGC applied to a long products mill for sections. The paper presents the main features of the function control system and, moreover, the constraints on the universal stand design requested to have a successful AGC operation. Finally, the advantages on the productivity of the mill and real application results are presented.
