Latest Technology of Tension Leveler for Ultrahigh-Strength Steel

Recently, the demands for ultrahigh-strength steel (UHSS) materials for automotive industry has been increased. The production process of UHSS requires extremely rapid cooling, which results in undesirable flatness and/or excessive residual stress of products. As the result, higher performance levelers are required to eliminating these defects. JP Steel Plantech Co. has developed a special tension leveler solving the market issues. This leveler possesses suitable features for handling UHSS materials and the leveling capacity that ranges up to thicknesses of ~2.6 mm and yield stresses of ~2,000 MPa. This paper will present the new leveler for UHSS.
