Numerical Hot Rolling Simulations for Improvements in Flatness and Profile Control
This study analyzed the flatness and profile evolution throughout a complete work roll campaign in a 6-stand finishing mill, focusing on the influence of shape actuators at each stage of the process. An off-line simulation tool was developed, producing closely aligned results when compared to industrial performance. These simulations allowed adjustments to the rolling program sequence, to the initial work roll profile and to perform interventions in the on-line mathematical model control. In conclusion, the proposed method proves to be a dependable and effective tool for optimizing hot rolling flatness and profile control performance.
