Increase in BOF Productivity Through the Implementation of a New Tuyere Design for Combined Blow
The performance of a steel mill relies on the stability of its production equipment, and combined blowing is essential to ensure the chemical uniformity of the steel, thereby reducing the total iron content in slag. Combined blowing system involves the use of tuyeres for injecting inert gases from the bottom. While these tuyeres are in operation, several fluid dynamic phenomena occur, leading to increased refractory wear and interruptions in the combined blowing. This study develops a new tuyere design with the aim of enhancing steel mixing rate and reducing tuyere wear rate, improving the efficiency of the combined blowing.
