Sublance 2.0 — Fully Automated Measuring Solutions in Converter Steelmaking

Accurate and automated measuring solutions are key to meeting the strict steel quality requirements and achieving highest productivity. The fastest and most accurate solution for fully automated measuring is the vertical Sublance. Primetals Technologies has developed and successfully commissioned the Vaicon Sublance 2.0 which can be equipped either with a LiquiRob for fully automatic probe handling or a standard probe magazine. In this paper the new Sublance 2.0 will be presented and feedback from two BOF reference plants will be shown. In addition, a comparison with other measuring solutions such as the measuring manipulator or drop sensors will be given.
