NO SHOW: Application of the Six Sigma Methodology in Electric Steelmaking: The Problem of Scrap Supply in the Consteel System
In the studied steel works, the production of steel takes place through an electric arc furnace that uses scrap, fluxes and ferroalloys. Scrap is transported to the EAF by the Consteel system. The scrap mix must meet height and weight requirements to ensure a continuous supply, but the different types and availability of scrap make it difficult to meet these requirements and result in low density of scrap. This work aims to describe a methodology to investigate the causes of the low weight of scrap loaded per trip in the Consteel system that impact the continuous loading in the FEA.
