LIBS Technology as Enabler for Slag Valorization

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) can be applied to obtain a fast and accurate chemical analysis of slag and steel with minimal sample preparation. Tenova LIBS has been tested on both EAF slag, during the execution of the iSlag project (European RFCS Founded project), and on LF slag. In both cases the scope is to obtain a fast chemical analysis to be used in advanced models dedicated to the valorization of slag. In this paper, results of the real-time chemical analysis of slag and the benefits on slag valorization will be presented.
