How Offgas Analysis Is a Fundamental Component for Achieving Dynamic EAF Control
Offgas analysis technologies have been used around the world for nearly 25 years, starting as a tool for engineering design of the fume system, later as a tool for chemical energy optimization and in recent years as a key technology for complete dynamic EAF control. This paper will describe the offgas system technical developments, from basic configuration to latest state-of-the-art system. It will outline the need to measure all fundamental gases from the EAF (CO/CO2/H2/O2/H2O), optimization strategies and execution challenges, and details/benefits achieved in EAF implementations in the U.S., Latin America, Europe and Asia.
