H2-Change: Refractories Under Attack of Challenging Atmospheres During Transformation Process
The sustainable change is a need for a future aligned with industrial transformation using a higher amount of hydrogen. In this paper, common and advanced lining materials for gas-driven DRI shaft furnaces are discussed, especially by using different gases such as hydrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, and water vapor and mixtures of these gases as attacking agent. This presentation gives the first results of the investigations done with a specialized STA equipment for the use with this gases under a pressure up to 72 psi. In another part, the usual wear of lining materials for DRI shaft furnaces will be discussed.
