Toward the Future: First Steps Toward Achieving Autonomous Blast Furnace in Ternium Brasil
This paper explores the first steps toward achieving autonomous operation at Ternium Blast Furnace No. 1 and No. 2. Through a successful and strong collaboration, a specific number of proven level 2 models, known as Paul Wurth BFXpert, together with a tailor-made multi-wave pyrometer smart sensor, were deployed and commissioned in order to optimize blast furnace chemical and thermal stability. The paper provides a concise overview of selected BFXpert models and showcases how Ternium’s process and operation team benefits of such a collaboration. Lastly, the paper gives insight into the technical performance of the commissioned product.
