The Role of Hydrogen in Decarbonizing Iron and Steel – An Enbridge Perspective
This presentation will look at the role hydrogen can play in the making of iron and steel to reduce carbon emissions from the production process. Accounting for approximately 7% of global emissions, the industry is deemed a hard to abate sector. Many industrial sectors or portions thereof can be electrified, but that comes with quite a few questions one should ask, like; how clean is the electricity being used? Can it provide the high heat needed for aspects of the process, and is it the optimal energy source for the applications? While hydrogen is not a cure for all ills, the presentation will look at what role hydrogen can play in alleviating carbon from the industry from an Enbridge perspective. Join us.
