Circored Fine Ore Direct Reduction and the Benefits of Microgranulation
Review of the Circored fines-based direct reduction process has shown minimized losses of iron-bearing minerals and potential productivity increase by dust fines recycling. In addition, declining ore grades demand accommodation of finer feedstock material for fluidization. Applying the agglomeration experience of Metso Outotec, the microgranulation process targets stable and well-sized granules to be fed to the reactor. An extensive study is performed to investigate the effects of granulation parameters to the granule quality in terms of strength and size, and sound metrics are introduced for this purpose. After outlining the corresponding procedures, results are presented that emphasize a successful campaign.
