Operation of Steel Mill Ladle Pre-Heater With 100% Green Hydrogen and Zero CO2 Emissions

This paper describes the technical details of a steel mill ladle pre-heater’s operation by using 100% green hydrogen. SARRALLE, together with one of its customers, has this technology in operation in a ladle pre-heater at a steel plant in the north of Spain, using 100% green hydrogen. Empirical results in the mentioned steel plant show that the new hydrogen oxygen burners designed and made by SARRALLE are able to reproduce the conventional operation of the ladle pre-heater with natural gas, both for heating and drying curves, allowing steel producers to work with zero CO2 emissions.
