CANCELLED: Development of a Fast-Drying Tundish Slurry Refractory
In the modern steel plant, equipment turnaround and availability are critical components to reducing downtime and promoting output. At the caster, this can mean ensuring that there is always a tundish available when it’s needed. Traditional sprayable refractory linings typically require a series of heating steps that include drying and pre-heating, which increase the time needed before the vessel is ready to accept liquid steel. To address this issue and improve equipment efficiency, a new sprayable refractory concept was designed that achieves a faster drying and pre-heating, reducing the overall preparation time while also reducing energy requirements and CO2 output.
