CANCELLED: Cold-Bonded Briquettes for Use as Furnace Feedstocks: Metallurgical and Hot Strength Testing
Steelmaking byproducts can be cold-bonded to form briquettes for use as alternative feedstocks to furnaces. Byproducts, binders and additives, such as reductants or lime, can be briquetted by stiff extrusion to various physical requirements (e.g., size, density, porosity, compressive strength, etc.). Briquettes can also be produced to meet specific metallurgical performance metrics. What is mostly absent in non-propriety literature is the pairing of these physical and metallurgical data. This paper expands on previous work, which focused on understanding binders and physical strength by examining metallurgical performance including reducibility, swelling and disintegration of various steelmaking byproducts briquetted by stiff extrusion.
