Effective Cold Rolling Technologies for the Successful Production of Electrical Steel and AHSS

This paper introduces selected cold rolling highlights, which significantly contribute to the successful production of advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) and electrical steel. The HYPER UC-MILL® is the new role model for tandem and reversing mills. Additional new features such as strip temperature guidance (STG), edge-drop control (EDC) and Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL®) support the stable and reliable production of high-grade electrical steels. The safe production of AHSS and non-grain oriented steels are made possible with powerful flatness and thickness control concepts with effective compensation of periodic disturbances along with new strip, and roll temperature models considering the special MQL issues.
