How to Make an Old 4-High Cold Rolling Mill Fit for AHSS or Electrical Steel Production

Existing cold mills with traditional 4-high design and large work rolls are typically not capable of running advanced high-strength steel or silicon steel. In order to give existing cold rolling mills the ability to produce new grades, Primetals Technologies has come up with a new development. Convertible Flex-HI Mill can be operated in individual stands either as a 4-high mill with a large work roll diameter or as a 6-high mill with small work rolls by means of quickly interchangeable cassettes with typical roll change times. Therefore, Flex-HI is perfectly suited to retrofit existing 4-high tandem and reversing cold rolling mills.
