Development of New Refractories Raw Material for Slide Gate Plate
Material consisting of Al2O3-Al4O4C was synthesized and its properties as an aggregate raw material for refractories were evaluated. It was found that it has a low bulk density and low coefficient of thermal expansion compared to alumina, and has excellent heat resistance and hydration resistance. This synthetic raw material was applied to Al2O3-ZrO2-C type slidegate plate refractories for continuous casting, and the properties of the refractories were evaluated. New raw material-applied slidegate plate refractories showed improved corrosion and spalling resistance in the laboratory and also showed good performance on field trials.
