Installation of Spray-Cooled Sloped Hot Face for EAF Sidewalls
Spray Cooling has grown over the years with new advancements like such as cone and gravity drain roofs, integral elbows and roof gantry modifications. Over the last several years, electric arc furnace (EAF) sidewalls have evolved to customized hot face profiles with slag tunnel bump-outs, burner enclosures and refractory brick protection. The new sloped sidewall hot face provides for improved cooling, larger space for making repairs and more efficient water draining. This paper will review the experience of several mills in their transition to EAF sidewall sloped hot face.
