NO SHOW: A Dynamic Model of Basic Oxygen Steelmaking Process
In the process of steelmaking, multi-component and multi-phase systems need to be dealt with. The major challenge faced in producing high-quality steel in larger volumes are dynamic control of composition and temperature throughout the process. A multi-zone coupled thermodynamic and kinetic model was developed for the simulation of hot metal and slag composition during the basic oxygen furnace (BOF) operation. The results from the model were consistent with the plant data. The model can be scaled up to industrial basic oxygen steelmaking process, and can be potentially used as a guiding tool to optimize the operating conditions.
