New Controlling Approach for Electric Arc Furnace Electrode Regulation System
This paper describes the successful implementation of a new automatic electrode regulation system design in the electric arc furnace at a flat steel plant. The study discusses improving the hydraulic system response by using high-response proportional valves to enhance the hydraulic system response, which affects the system response, reduces the secondary current, reduces electrode consumption and reduces the energy consumption. The findings illustrated that the power-on time reduced from 48.7 to 48.2 minutes/heat; the active power increased from 124.2 to 127.12 MW; and the electrode consumption decreased from 1.51 to 1.38 kg/ton.
