The Critical Role of Hydrogen in Linde’s Coherent Jet Technology
Linde's technology delivers oxy-fuel burner power for heating, and a flame-shrouded supersonic jet for refining. The 25th anniversary, recently celebrated, marked its incipient application in the electric arc furnace, with a roster of more than 170 installations worldwide. Steering toward decarbonization, the interest in hydrogen is legion. CoJet® has been developed using hydrogen for the lancing and burner functions. Hydrogen plays a critical role in the formation mechanism of supersonic coherent jets, outperforming conventional fuels. This presentation will underscore the essential role of hydrogen in Linde's technology – both from a fundamental perspective and as a decarbonization choice for iron and steel applications.
