Electrolytic Tinning Line: A New Era of Process Evolutions
After a long period of consolidated application, the electrolytic tinning line (ETL) process is facing new challenges to reduce environmental and health impacts and to enhance quality and coating uniformity, particularly important in case of low coating thicknesses. Tenova’s innovations encompass all production steps:
- In ETL lines: cleaning/pickling, plating processes, bath control as concentration, iron contamination, additives, constant anode-strip gap (insoluble anodes), improved cell fluids dynamic, Cr-free passivation, tin re-melting to optimize Sn-Fe alloy thickness.
- In upstream treatment: cold and temper mill roll grinding/texturing, annealing to improve degreasing arrangement that limits cracked C and Fe particles in the furnace.
