  • Pumps for Descaling in Steel Mills

Pumps for Descaling in Steel Mills

To remove scale during the hot rolling of steel, large amounts of water at very high pressure are required in a short time. The design and materials used for the pumps are therefore crucial for their service life. This presentation will provide the following takeaways: Pump failure leads to production downtime; careful design ensures safe operation, therefore special attention must be given to the pump selection and installation during planning; the importance of axial thrust compensation; overall pump wear; and due to chemical additives in the water treatment process, internal pump components must be made from high-quality materials.
