NLMK Plate Mill Upgrade — Achievements and Results

NLMK’s Clabecq (Belgium) plate mill is composed of a quarto reversing mill and a 4-stand continuous finishing mill. This configuration makes the plate mill capable of processing material in the same way as a semicontinuous hot strip mill; this carries obvious advantages in terms of process homogeneity opposed to a standard reversing plate mill. As a result, the company has been recognized as a specialist in thin to medium thicknesses. In 2020, NLMK partner with Danieli to implement all the necessary control packages in the finishing mill and gain the full advantage coming from this plant configuration.
