Industrial Machine Learning: How Digitalization and Knowledge Graphs Enable Operational Excellence
Steel manufacturers require new knowledge insights to improve operational efficiency and excellence. A new AI/ML platform uses data sources like operational digitized time-series data, CMMS, engineering drawings, and ad hoc testing/lab reports for defect elimination and problem-solving. Knowledge graphs, generated by importing P&IDs and those data sources, establish relationships within equipment, systems, plant and corporate hierarchy. The operational insights generated (i.e., coal/coke blends that optimize blast furnace performance) are related through multilevel health scores and KPIs (pertinent to personnel role). Operational benefits are rapid deployment, risk reduction, cross-silo communication (unified namespace), and new system and process information.
