New Spinel Refractory Shotcrete for Monolithic Steel Ladle Working Linings
Presenting innovations that enable an "endless" refractory working lining for steel ladles, achieved by shotcreting newly developed spinel refractory as the working lining when original refractory lining thickness is reduced by about 50%. No form required. Installation automated. Brick joints eliminated. Less time needed to install versus brick. Steel quality improved: carbon and aluminate contamination is reduced. Refractory consumption and refractory cost per ton of steel produced is reduced. Refractory disposal reduced. The shotcrete lining can be heated using same preheat practice as standard preheat practice for brick linings. Carbon footprint is reduced. Relative performance from multiple active users presented.
