In-Plant Piloting of the PyroLIBS System for Ironmaking: Real-Time Molten Material Composition
The PyroLIBS system is a next-generation technology for pyrometallurgy, capable of direct, real-time measurement of chemical compositions for molten materials. The paper presents the results of in-plant piloting of this system applied to the blast furnace runner, for continuous measurement of key elemental chemistry and temperature. Using this prompt and continuous data stream, in concert with a state-of-the-art process advisor, is expected to provide value to a typical blast furnace operation on the order of millions of dollars per year.
