Achievements and Results of the DUE Plant at Yunan Yukun Steel

The Yukun DUE®, commissioned in April 2024, represents a milestone in steel production. Fed by two vertical-curved, high-throughput slab casters, the plant is poised to produce up to 4.6 million tons of HRCs annually. Strip thicknesses ranges from 0.80 to 25.4 mm, widths between 900 and 1,500 mm. Key features of the Yukun DUE include its unique flexibility, allowing to operate in three rolling modes: coil-to-coil, semi-endless and endless. During the hot commissioning, the plant achieved successful production tests within 90 days of start-up. As the coil-to-coil stabilizes, the transition to semiendless rolling followed by endless rolling is underway.
