An Automatic Carbon Footprint Evaluation Algorithm for Semifinished Products in the Steelmaking Industry
An off-line data-driven algorithm was developed for automating the calculation of carbon footprints merging data retrieved from different plant sources for a semifinished product in a steelmaking industry. The entire study was carried out defining a methodology for monitoring the different incomes along the plant process routes combining static and dynamic data. The approach proposed follows the Life Cycle Thinking principles and it gives an evaluation of the different scopes in the carbon footprint analysis. After outlining the general characteristics of the algorithm, a case study was simulated in a dedicated development environment.
