Digital Product Boosts Output in Strip Length or Tonnage of Cold Rolling Mills

An optimized cold rolling process generally delivers better performance regarding strip thickness than end users require. Therefore, operation of the rolling mill can be optimized to increase output in strip length or tonnage. The digital product X-Pact® Mill Mining utilizes AI predictions based on IBA data, coupled with the automation system, to increase the mill’s productivity in real time. Moreover, it is monitored by level 1 safety functions to ensure compliance with the end user’s guaranteed strip thickness values. The results are digitally processed after each coil so that the tool’s added value is clearly seen in real process data.
