Automatic Slag Door: One Year of Operation in a Scrap-Based EAF

Condoor® is the automatic slag door designed by SMS group, optimized in a decade of experience in Americas, Europe and Asia. In August 2023, Condoor was installed in the SMS-designed EAF in Celsa Barcelona, a 140-ton EBT AC furnace. Since then, thanks to a strong cooperation between the companies, the performance of the door has been deeply monitored on a monthly basis for an entire year of production. This paper presents the detailed results of this journey, which enabled Celsa to further optimize their key performance indicators, improving at the same time the safety level of the plant.
