Effect of Mill Time on Strength of Low-Carbon Nb-V Microalloyed Steels
Historically, it has been debated whether NbC precipitation contributes to the strength of discrete plate produced at a Steckel mill. It has been debated that the prolonged rolling time in the austenite region consumes a large amount of Nb, leaving very limited Nb solutes available for NbC precipitation strengthening during subsequent cooling. In the present study, the effect of mill time on the strength of several Nb-V microalloyed steels was examined, and the strengthening mechanisms will be discussed.
