Chatter in Hot Rolling
Chatter during hot rolling operations not only leads to gauge variations but also inflicts significant damage on components within the drivetrain. This is particularly critical in hot rolling due to the heavy reduction and variation in flow stress. Chatter can be categorized into two types: torsional and lateral. This paper presents a comprehensive model that couples mill lateral vibration with torsional vibration to analyze the factors influencing chatter in hot rolling. The results of this analysis offer valuable insights for preventing both gauge variation and equipment failures.
