Automatic Inspection System for Rhomboidity in Billets With Artificial Vision
Rhomboidity is a shape defect in billets, characterized by a difference greater than 2% between the diagonals of the cross-section. This project developed an intelligent vision system capable of automatically determining the degree of rhomboidity with an accuracy of 0.5 mm for all billets produced on operational lines. The system enables the classification of billets with out-of-range rhomboidity with 85% accuracy, facilitating precise operational adjustments in lines with high rhomboidity values. Automating this process eliminates the need for manual measurements, significantly improving monitoring, traceability and overall quality control in billet production.
