An Environment-Friendly Replacement for Hard Chrome Coating With Superior Wear and Chemical Resistance
Hard chrome (HC) coating has significant use cases in the steel manufacturing process; for example, for work rolls or copper molds. The HC plating process is environmentally regulated. In addition, the HC process is inefficient (10% efficiency). Maxterial has built its coating technology, called H-Max, as a novel and environment-friendly replacement for HC. It is free of environmental concerning chemicals. H-Max has around 90% plating efficiency and has around half of the HC wear based on an initial rolling pilot test. H-Max is currently in the automotive market. It has also been successfully pilot-tested in the hydraulic and steel industries.
