Human-Free Casting Operation: Safety and Efficiency Increase Through Robotization and Artificial Vision
The continuous casting phase in steel production still involves several manual operations close to molten steel, posing significant safety risks. This paper demonstrates how the integration of advanced robotic technologies can fully automate casting operations, significantly enhancing safety, process efficiency and production. Advanced human-machine interfaces enable operators to control the entire casting process, including shroud manipulation, nozzle oxygen opening and steel temperature sampling, without needing to enter the casting area during critical stages.
