Steel the Future: ESTEP's Role in EU's Green Production Transformation

The European Steel Technology Platform (ESTEP) strongly supports the EU steel sector in addressing the decarbonization challenge. The public-private partnership Clean Steel (CSP) illustrates how ESTEP fosters collaboration at medium to high technology readiness level. The presentation will outline major projects, financially supported by CSP, accelerating the transformation toward green steel production in the EU. It shows technology development often combining process clarification, digital solution implementation, and health and safety improvements. The collaborative research among steel producers, plantbuilders and academia is a strong complementary option for the industry investments in green steel production facilities.
